Children and adolescents react differently to mental health problems than adults. If there is a change in your child's behavior that concerns you contact a mental health professional. Signs that a child needs further evaluation by a psychiatric professional include but are not limited to:

  • Poor impulse control 

  • Hyperactivity 

  • Poor attention  

  • Not picking up on social cues 

  • Isolating 

  • Not flexible with routines 

  • Overly picky about eating 

  • Regressed behavior to a previous age 

  • Excessive tantrums 

  • Destructive behavior 

  • Aggression 

  • Breaking the law 

  • Sexual acting out 

  • Drug use 

 If  your child has some of the above symptoms  make an appointment for a thorough evaluation.
