Anxiety is experienced through physiological changes and emotional distress. Physiological effects may include sweating, heart palpitations, rapid breathing, and numbness. Individuals may experience poor attention, poor memory, confusion, and distorted thinking.
Although, anxiety is a normal occurrence that serves as a protective factor one in four people met the criteria for an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders occur in 30% of women and 20% of men. Anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, and specific phobias.
